Genesis 13

Prayer and Preparation
Spend a few minutes in prayer, inviting the Lord into this time of studying His Word. Pause, be still and create space to listen to Him in the coming minutes.

Study
Based off what we are told about Abram and Lot, what are the differences between the two men? Compare and contrast Abram and Lot.

How does this story fit within the bigger story we’ve studied so far in Genesis?

What are the implications of Abram and Lot’s dispute and separation?

Application
In God’s kindness, the Lord reassures Abram in verse 14. God rehearses His promises to Abram in what had to have felt like a setback. How does rehearsing God’s promises effect you in the midst of discouragement or setbacks? What truths can you remind yourself of, as life makes it hard to see the “big story” God is telling?

Are there any opportunities in which you might be able to speak truth and rehearse truths to other believers who are experiencing a setback right now? Pray that God would give you eyes to see opportunities to be a “big picture” encouragement to others. Then go out and give it a shot.
