Ridgeline Study Prompts
Genesis 1:26-2:25
Prayer and Preparation
This week’s text is a foundational passage for understanding the worth, dignity and sanctity of each human life. Spend a few minutes in prayer asking God to bring the text to life in your heart and mind, then spend a few minutes thoughtfully and carefully reading Genesis 1:26-2:25.
Study
Chapter 2 is a creation account that is separate from the account in chapter 1. Genesis 2 takes a closer look at the creation of human beings and how they relate to God. Based off what you know about God, what is the meaning of Genesis 1:26, “let us make man in our image, after our likeness?” What exactly was God creating?
What does the act of God making human beings in His image mean for each human? And what far-reaching implications does this have on how we think about others, or even ourselves?
What does this passage reveal about the relationship between husband and wife, and more broadly, males and females?
Application
How is this passage applicable to you? How does your understanding of image-bearers or the relationship between males and females shape your behavior, thinking, etc. in any practical way?
