Prayer and Preparation

As we celebrate the coming of Jesus this advent season, spend a few minutes in prayer asking the Holy Spirit to use your study of John 1 to stir up praise and adoration for King Jesus. Thank the Father for the gift of His Son and thank Jesus for His willingness to set aside the things of heaven to live in obedience here on earth. Emmanuel, God with us!

Read John 1:1-18. Then summarize verses 1 through 5 in a sentence or two. What are the themes or theological truths found in these five verses?

 
Summarize verses 9 through 13. What is the truth John is teaching in these verses? 

Finally, summarize verses 14 through 18. What is the theological truth here, and how does it relate to the previous 13 verses?

Application
