Ridgeline Study Prompts

Psalm 119

Prayer and Preparation

This week’s text is a long one. It took me a little over ten minutes to read straight through. Don’t let the length of the text intimidate or deter you from taking the time to read and absorb the wisdom of this text. Spend some time in prayer and preparation, then take the time to enjoy and savor God’s Word.

Study

How would you summarize Psalm 119? What is it about? What are some themes or pieces of wisdom that stood out as you read the song?

This psalm is an alphabetical acrostic. Each of the eight-verse sections begins with the successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Which sections stood out to you the most? What are the more specific takeaways from those sections that you can mediate on in the coming days?

Application

Psalm 119 invites the readers to delight in the Word of God. What about the Word of God brings delight to your heart and mind? If you were to write you own psalm about God’s Word, what kinds of things would you write down?

What is one thing God showed you through this psalm, and how can you share your findings with someone else?
