Ridgeline Study Prompts
Galatians 1:6-10
Prayer and Preparation
In this week’s passage we are reminded that sometimes we forget the details of the gospel and get sidetracked with “a different gospel”. Spend a few minutes in prayer asking God to use this time of study to anchor your soul to the good news of the salvation He offers.
Study
The tone of Galatians shifts quickly in verse 6 of this chapter. Summarize what Paul is astonished by.
What does “a different gospel” mean? What was Paul trying to correct in this opening reprimand?
When we try to add something to the work Jesus has already completed, it affects us negatively. What kinds of negative effects does a wrong understanding of the gospel have on a believer? Why is Paul so sternly warning the believers in Galatia?
Application
In what ways have you ever added to the gospel? What ways have you put pressure on yourself or had someone else put pressure on you for the purpose of self-manufactured sanctification?
What fruit did that approach bring?
