Ridgeline Study Prompts
Psalm 110
Prayer and Preparation
As you study this week, our prayer is that you find great encouragement and that your faith is emboldened by the promise of a forever King who will prove himself victorious when all is said and done. Spend a few minutes in prayer asking the Lord to open your eyes and prepare your heart for study.
Study
In verse 1, David wrote “The LORD says to my Lord”. So, who was Yahweh speaking to in this psalm, and how does that shape the rest of this reading?
What are some of the biblical truths that come to mind about Jesus, when David wrote God’s instruction for Jesus to “sit at my right hand”?
To an exiled people, Psalm 110 would probably fill them with hope of a king who would come and overthrow the nations that had scattered them. What is the actual fulfillment this psalm speaks of, that far exceeds political or military victory?
Application
Why is this psalm so important for us (not Jews in exile or under Roman occupation) in our day and time? What can we learn or be reminded of through Psalm 110? Write your answer.
How does the knowledge of a victorious King embolden you to step out in obedience this week as an ambassador for Christ?
