Ridgeline Study Prompts
Psalms 73
Prayer and Preparation
As we move into the third book of the Psalms, pause and pray that the Holy Spirit would breathe life into your study and that the songs of the Old Testament exiles would be our songs as well. Pray that God would open your eyes and mind, and that He would empower change in you, where it’s needed.
Study
In verses 1 through 3, in what way did the psalmist almost stumble?
What kinds of things, observed by the psalmist, made him envious? What kinds of things cause envy in our hearts and minds in our day and age?
In verses 15-20, what brought breakthrough for the psalmist, to snap him out of his envious state of thinking?
What did the psalmist realize in verses 23-28 that helped him arrive at a healthier perspective?
Application
Are there ways you have grown envious or jealous of those around you in the recent past? How can you combat the temptation, and what truths might you need to preach to yourself as a reminder? Please make some notes and pray about sharing during our discussion time on Sunday.
