Ridgeline Study Prompts
Psalms 62
Prayer and Preparation
As you sit down this week to study Psalm 62, know that spending some of your day in the study of God’s Word is a worthwhile investment of your time. Take a moment to ask the Lord to bless your time abiding in Him.
Study
In verses 2, 6 and 7 David describes God as his rock, salvation, and fortress. Describe at a deeper level, what each of these word images communicate about God.
What resources does David have at his disposal as king of Israel? How might those things give David a false sense of security? What temptation might there be to rely on those things for stability, comfort, assurance, etc?
Application
What resources do you have at your disposal as an American in 2022? What things are we quick to look to for a sense of stability, comfort, assurance, etc?
What is it about God that makes Him our focus during times of instability and weakness? How can you allow your soul the opportunity to wait on Him? This takes intentionality and discipline, so write out a plan and get to work implementing it. Then, make plans to discuss with a spiritual partner the steps you are taking to focus on God in the hard places.
