Ridgeline Study Prompts
Philippians 4
Prayer and Preparation
As you sit down to study the fourth chapter of Philippians, try to be still. Cease striving. Pause the busyness of your day and wait on the Lord. Ask the Spirit to meet you where you are and speak to you. Ask Him to open your eyes and your mind as you study. Ask for humility to have a teachable spirit and wisdom to apply God’s truth in your life.
Study
In the first few verses we learn of conflict between some of the believers in the faith community in Philippi. Are there instances when you’ve experienced disunity at a personal level within the church? What were those situations like and what were the underlying causes?
How does rejoicing, not giving into anxious thoughts, prayer and supplication relate to unity in the church?
What does verse 8 have to do with the verses around it? What’s the context of that popular verse?
Philippians 4:13 is also a well-known verse. What does this verse actually mean in the context of this chapter and the rest of the book of Philippians?
Application
We can step into hard conversations and ministry opportunities with the right perspective. What is the hard thing God is calling you to step into this week?
