Ridgeline Study Prompts
Acts 14
Prayer and Preparation
Before reading, spend time praying that the Lord helps this passage come to life and that you can glean what He has for you in wisdom and sanctification.
Study
This is an action-packed text! Try to write a brief summary of chapter 14.
In Acts 12:22-23 we saw Herod position himself for and gladly receive the praise of the people. In this chapter, we see Paul and Barnabas passionately refuse it. What does this show about their difference of character?
It’s hard to imagine preaching, teaching, and carrying on the mission right after being stoned and left for dead. But that’s exactly what Paul did in this part of his missionary journey. I know I have been discouraged over much less. Can you think of times you met resistance and continued to faithfully follow Jesus? Can you think of a time where the resistance was great enough that you gave in or gave up?
Application
As you prayerfully meditated on this Scripture, what do you believe God put on your heart and mind? How do think God would have you respond? Write down your thoughts and share them with a spiritual partner over coffee or a meal this week.
