Ridgeline Study Prompts
Acts 15:1-35
Prayer and Preparation
We don’t read the Bible to finish, we read the Bible to be changed – to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. Do you believe this? Spend time in prayer. Ask the Lord to change you as you listen to Him and meditate on His word. We are not reading to check something off our to-do list, so that we can feel good about finishing the text before Sunday. We are immersing ourselves in God’s word – listening to His voice - abiding in Him - trusting that the Word has the power and authority to shape us and to make us more like Jesus.
Study
In your own words, what is at the heart of the disagreement in this passage? What’s driving the dispute? Is it as simple as an outward procedure being neglected or are other factors shaping this scenario (pride, background, worldview, training, etc.)?
How was the disagreement handled in this passage?
What were the response and action steps taken to bring unity, closure, and guidance moving forward?
Application
We find ourselves in a season full of disagreements. How does the gospel and the observations we made in this text shape how we might navigate differing opinions and approaches? Ask God to give you some personal application steps. Share with a friend.
