Ridgeline Study Prompts

 Acts 13:13-52

Prayer and Preparation

This week’s passage is a longer one, but it’s really a simple account of one of Paul’s sermons. You may have the urge to read it fast, since you have a lot to read, but resist that temptation. Take your time, think about the words Luke wrote down, and try to put yourself there in Antioch in Pisidia. Pray that the Lord might bring this text to life in your heart and mind.

Study

We get a glimpse into one of Paul’s sermons in this chapter. In your own words, write out a short summary.

Verses 40-47 are a sobering reminder that God’s purposes will be fulfilled, whether we cooperate with Him or not. Has there been a time where you resisted the Lord’s prompting, then found yourself missing out on something the Lord was doing around you? Or, has there been a time where you saw God move in the life of someone you didn’t expect?

Once again the religious elite are the most opposed to the Gospel spreading throughout the world. Why do you think it is so common for the very religious to miss the opportunities to respond positively to the Gospel?

Application

Paul taught the story of God and applied it to the world around him. Where are you actively proclaiming the Good News, and to whom? We can all grow in this, so the question is not meant to shame. Don’t let the enemy shame you; instead, allow the Holy Spirit to prompt you. Tell a spiritual partner what the Spirit is teaching you and ask for accountability in the coming weeks to share the Good News with someone.
