Ridgeline Study Prompts

 Acts 9:20-31

Prayer and Preparation

As you prepare for our time together Sunday, please carve out some time to be still (cease striving) and to think deeply on this passage. Listen to the Lord as you read His Word and trust that through the Spirit, you will be challenged, encouraged, taught, and stretched by these verses. Pray, read, think and study with a genuine belief and expectation that God wants to engage with you.

Study

In both stories we are told that many believed in response to the miracles that occurred. There is a difference between miracles (supernatural experiences) affirming a faith and miracles (supernatural experiences) being the foundation of faith? How do you view supernatural experiences in relation to your walk with Christ? Are there areas of your life where you have viewed them as a pre-requisite for your obedience?

How does a guy like Peter go from the guy we studied in Luke to the guy who spoke and had a paralyzed man walk and a woman raise from the dead?

God was orchestrating something even greater than a man’s ability to walk or a woman’s being brought back to life. He was spreading the good news in the region that would work its way to a Gentile in Caesarea. He was also maneuvering Peter closer to the Gentile we will be introduced to next week in Chapter 10. List out a time or two in your life that you have seen God orchestrate events that set things in motion for something else even bigger.

Application

If we believe that God is still in the business of advancing the Good News to the lost world, let’s take a minute to think about ways God might be orchestrating our path right now to advance His Kingdom. Where has God placed you? Who has He granted you favor with? Are the people currently around you better because of your presence there? We are ambassadors of The Way - are you living mindful of that and intentional with your days?
