Ridgeline Study Prompts

 Acts 9:20-31

Prayer and Preparation

Before reading the passage, prepare your heart and mind with prayer. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach and shape you as you study His Word. Remember, we don’t read the Bible to finish, we read the Bible to be changed.

Study

Read Acts 9:20-31 and Galatians 1:11-24. Make a timeline of Saul’s first few years as a follower of the Way.

What are some different responses people have to Saul’s conversion? Saul’s conversion was a significant event for both the followers of the Way and for those who opposed the early church. I think the variety of responses is something we can all relate to. What are some of the different ways people have responded to you as you try to follow The Way of Christ (ex: mostly supportive, often opposed, apathetic, or do you get a mixture)?

As we press on (stay faithful) despite how others respond, we rest in the fact that God promises He will build His church (Matthew 16:18). We know that the gates of hell cannot prevail against the advancement of the gospel. Write down some areas of discouragement, that might benefit from this reminder?

Application

Write down an area or two where your desire to follow Christ is met with discouragement, broken relationship, opposition, or temptation to quit. Share what God puts on your heart with someone who will pray with you in this and bring accountability where needed.
