Ridgeline Study Prompts

 Acts 9:1-19

Prayer and Preparation

Before reading the text, spend a few moments preparing your heart through prayer. Make sure you have the margin to listen to the Spirit and the mindset to put to action what He puts on your heart as you study. Then mindfully and carefully read Acts 9:1-19.

Study

Without taking into account what you know about Paul’s later life and ministry, how would you describe the Saul/Paul we see in these verses, and what Luke shared about him in Chapter 8?

With the reputation Saul had, what do you think it would be like to be in Ananias’ position? What if God asked you to move toward and minister to Saul. How would you feel?

Saul is baptized in verse 18. From your study of Scripture, what is the significance of this moment? Make a list of your findings on “what” baptism is, and “why” it’s important.

Application

If public profession of faith is a foundational component of Christianity, we must be active in our public proclamation of the Gospel. What are some ways you can proclaim the Gospel this week and who are some of the people you can prayerfully proclaim it to? Share what you write down in this section with a spiritual partner that you know will bring you loving accountability in the days ahead to help you walk in obedience.
