Ridgeline Study Prompts
Psalm 2
Prayer and Preparation
Spend some time in prayer. Apart from the Holy Spirit’s work in our reading this text, our eyes, minds, and hearts won’t be opened to ways we can apply and gain wisdom from Psalm 2. Ask God to teach you, grow you, and change you.
Since Psalm 2 is only twelve verses read it several times. Make the effort to read it in different translations to get a better grasp and feel for the text. I suggest translations like ESV, NASB, HCSB, NIV, NLT. See if one version helps you best understand the words of the psalmist. Try this link to read two versions side-by-side:

Study
Start your study by outlining the chapter. Paraphrase each verse to better understand the flow of the text.
In Hebrew poetry there is often a rhythm or pairing of verses. Do you notice any pairings or rhythms to this chapter? (look at the text as sets of 3 verses)
Application
How are the attitudes of the rulers and kings described in this Psalm reflected in our lives and in the culture around us?
What can we learn about the deception of the enemy and the power of God in this Psalm? How does it apply to us?
