Ridgeline Study Prompts
Acts 25:13-27
Prayer and Preparation
In 1 Peter 2:1-3 the Scripture instructs us in this way:
1 So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. 2 Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.
As you study pray that the Lord would build a craving in you for His word. Pray that you will “taste that the Lord is good”, and that sanctification will follow. What you do in this time of abiding has the potential to make you forever different. Lean into the Word. Believe that God wants to satisfy your hungry soul.
Study
Luke uses the word “pomp” (v. 23) to describe events taking place here. Think about who all is in the room; describe what you imagine the scene to look like as Agrippa and Bernice came with great pomp to the hearing.
Describe the dilemma Festus finds himself (vv 24-27). And how did he find himself in this predicament?
Application
We are often tempted to make decisions or do things in hopes of impressing or pleasing others. Or maybe, instead of making the hard choice to do what is right, we think of compromising our values to get things to work in our favor. Can you think of a situation where you chose compromise at the cost of doing what was right? Are there areas of your life where you are pursuing favor or benefit instead of character? What might God have you do moving forward in those situations?
