Ridgeline Study Prompts
Acts 21:1-27
Prayer and Preparation
“But Jesus would often go to some place where he could be alone and pray.” (Luke 5:16 CEV)
On a regular basis, especially in His most busy or chaotic moments, Jesus would set aside intentional time to commune with the Father. As you sit down to study, remember, you and I have this same opportunity. In the chaotic moments of life, we are invited to withdraw and commune. Enjoy, don’t rush, create margin to hear, learn, apply, confess, repent, grow. Give room for God to move in you.
Study
Verses 1 through 14 show a very determined Paul. What is driving him? What is his conviction?
Throughout Acts, when Paul returned to places where he had old friends, the focus of his conversations was often the same. In verses 15-20 what is the subject of conversation? How might that apply to, or shape, your conversations when you gather with believers?
Verses 20 through 26 show significant submission and compromise for Paul. Summarize what was done in these verses and how did Paul compromise.
Application
In this one section of Scripture we see both unshakable conviction and substantial compromise. How do we make sense of this? And how do conviction and compromise help us navigate life in our time and culture? Make it personal – what is your biggest struggle to find balance in this regard?
