Ridgeline Study Prompts
Acts 20:13-37
Prayer and Preparation
“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.” (Colossians 3:1)
Paul’s words invite us to choose thoughts that draw us to Christ. As you study, you have a chance to set your mind on things above. The most encouraging thing about this text is that Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Meaning you have an Advocate cheering you on and making a case for you in the presence of the Father. So, dig in, study, set your mind on Christ and watch Him change you.
Study
The second half of Acts 20 is so full of wisdom, godly examples, warning and goals for us as followers of the Way. What are some of the qualities/character traits of Paul shown in this passage that would be worth noting, and in turn, imitating?
Paul shared his understanding that difficultly was waiting for him in Jerusalem. How had Paul’s ministry leading up to that moment prepared him for what was coming?
Paul gives a warning of wolves that would attack the church in the future. Where do those wolves come from, how do they lead people astray, and what is the warning for us in this?
Application
There are so many things to process in these verses; what one or two things stand out to you that God might have you apply in your journey following the Way? Write them down, then meet up with a spiritual partner for a conversation and have this question be a part of your conversation. This is a great and easy way to invite someone else into your spiritual journey. Talking with each other about what God is showing us is a key part of creating genuine community.
