Ridgeline Study Prompts
Psalm 123 and 131
Prayer and Preparation
This weekly study is a sacred opportunity to commune with God. Spend a couple minutes in prayer asking the Lord to align your heart and mind with His. Like David in Psalm 131, find your hope in the Lord today through setting your mind on Him.
Study
In the first two verses of Psalm 123 the author wrote of the focus of the eyes. In the first verse the gaze is lifted up into the heavens. What does this imagery conjure up in your mind?
In the second verse, the focus is toward the master or mistress that is close. What is the implication of this imagery?
Why is it important to set your focus on the right things in the midst of struggle or discouragement? What is the right thing on which you should set your attention?
Summarize the theme of Psalm 131, and how might it relate to Psalm 123?
Application
If you were to write out the different things that have demanded your focus and attention this week, how frequently does “God” show up? How are you doing at keeping your eyes and mind set on Christ in your day-to-day activities?
What action steps might you take that could help you walk in a humble contentment with Christ today? Write them out, but don’t stop there. Carve out enough time to actually do what you write. Come up with a plan, then step into the plan.
