Ridgeline Study Prompts
Acts 16:1-10
Prayer and Preparation
Reading, studying, and meditating on the scripture is an exercise in seeking the Lord. As you study this week’s passage you have the opportunity to take steps toward abiding (remaining with) in Christ. Spend a couple of minutes in prayer asking the Lord to direct your thoughts and captivate your heart to the extent that would you abide in Him as a result.
Study
Read Acts 16:1-10, as well as 2 Timothy 1:5 and write down what these passages tell you about Timothy.
If the Council at Jerusalem, that we already studied, said that circumcision wasn’t necessary, why did Paul have Timothy be circumcised?
What was going on in verses 6 through 10? How does their sensitivity to the Holy Spirit and their flexibility in their plan effect their mission?
Application
Personal preference and plans were significantly sacrificed for the advancement of the kingdom in these verses. If you prayed for God to use you in the life of your unbelieving friends, what might it cost you? Are you willing to pay whatever it takes? What are some ways you could love your unsaved friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, etc. in a costly and sacrificial way that might be outside of how you would “like” to do it?
