Psalm 23

Prayer and Preparation

Psalm 23 is a poem for those waiting in between the already and the not yet. Spend time in prayer, asking the Lord to lead you to renewing pastures and restoring waters as you abide in Him through the study, contemplation, prayer and application of His word.

Study

What did David mean when he called God his shepherd? Summarize how he described the work and results of the LORD as his shepherd.

What is the valley of the shadow of death? What do the darkest days look like in your life? Give examples, or write what makes you the saddest, most defeated, most scared, etc.

Summarize the picture David is describing in verses five and six.

Application
Putting scripture to memory is a great step to apply the Word to our lives. Spend time this week hiding these six verses in your heart. Share a fresh story of how God refreshed you in a hard time, with a spiritual partner over coffee or a meal. Doing so is good for your walk with the Lord, and it brings glory to God to boast in what He has done in you. So really make an effort to find someone, and share.
