Psalm 19

Prayer and Preparation

C.S. Lewis supposedly once said of Psalm 19 that it was “the greatest poem in the Psalter, and one of the greatest lyrics ever composed.” Before you begin studying Psalm 19 spend a few minutes asking God to open your eyes to the richness of this Psalm.

Study

Summarize the first 6 verses of the Psalm 19.

Read Romans 1:18-20, then write out how these verses relate to Psalm 19:1-6.

Read Psalm 19:7-14. These verses celebrate God’s special revelation to us in the Scriptures. Write down one or two of the word-pictures here that resonate most deeply with you.

Application

This week instead of writing out your answers, try putting verses 7 through 14 to action by committing Psalm 19 to memory. Make flash cards, write it out a few times, listen to it on an app, re-read it. Do whatever you have to do to allow the Scripture to be the words of your mouth and the meditations of your heart this week.
