Ridgeline Study Prompts

Psalms 46

Prayer and Preparation

In Psalm 46:10, God exhorts us to be still, and know that He is God. Heed the challenge and carve out time this week to be still, and study God’s word. And pray that through the study of God’s word you might know Him more richly.

Study

Psalm 46:2-3 use the imagery of chaotic waters to depict what was happening in the world. Are there chaotic
things happening in the world around you? Write down things in your immediate context or the world at large
that are tumultuous.

Verses 4-7 show how God is the opposite of chaos. His waters are calm, and His presence is our refuge. Write
out examples of how God’s sovereignty has been present in your past turmoil and difficulty.

Verses 8-11 display God’s capability to hold true to His promises and come through with victory in the end. How do these truths shape our understanding, and, more importantly, the application of the first 7 verses?

Application
What does being still look like for you today? How can you stop striving and, instead, find refuge in God’s
presence?
