Ridgeline Study Prompts

 Acts 4:23-37

Prayer and Preparation

Before reading the text spend a few moments preparing your heart through prayer. Make sure you have the margin to listen to the Spirit and the mindset to put to action what He puts on your heart through study. Then Re-read Acts 4:1-22 to refresh your memory of the context. Now read the remaining verses of Acts 4.

Study

Does anything about the church family’s response to Peter and John’s story stand out to you?

Verses 25 and 26 reference a Psalm David wrote through the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Read Psalm 2 and write down some of the reasons that particular Psalm might be encouraging for them to rehearse to each other.

In verses 32 through 37 Luke describe how Christians lived together. What are some of the elements of community described in these verses that appeals to you?

Application

Reading Luke’s account of Christian community in the early church may have you longing for certain elements that you feel are lacking in your Christian experience. What are some ways that you can practice community and be those things to others around you? In what ways can you “be” to others, the very thing you long to see in church?
