Ridgeline Study Prompts

 Acts 18:18-28

Prayer and Preparation

Begin in prayer – be still and know that He is God. Ask the Lord what it is that you need to hear from Him today. Pray that He would make Himself known to you in a real way as you read His Word. Then read this week’s text as a disciple – a learner - of Christ. Ask yourself why Luke was inspired to include this particular part of the story and trust that God intends to use these words in your life.

Study

Paul stayed in Corinth for at least a year and a half (Acts 18:11) and then he stayed many days longer. It seems that in that season of his ministry he deepened his relationship with Priscilla and Aquila. List some of the things we know about them that would have most likely made it easy for them to get along.

We see that Paul and Priscilla and Aquila parted ways (in a very different manor than Paul’s splitting up with Barnabas) in their missional work? What are the benefits of them separating (i.e., what comes of them taking on separate tasks)?

We are introduced to Apollos in verses 24 through 28. What stands out to you about his strengths, his weaknesses, or his character in this passage?

Application

The Great Commission, found in Matthew 28:19-20, commands us to go and make disciples of all nations – baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that He commanded. How can today’s Acts 18 passage shape our understanding of how to best carry out that commission? How were disciples being made? How were the nations being reached? And what can we draw from this, apply in our context, to do the same?
